Paris, France, Jun. 9 (UPI) -- No French president in history has ever been as unpopular as Jacques Chirac, Le Figaro said after new poll results Thursday. The latest Ipsos poll says Chirac's approval rating has sunk to 27 percent, compared to 47 percent last month, just before France's stunning no vote on the EU constitution. Chirac responded to that setback by sacking his prime minister and installing his favorite, former foreign minister Dominiquie de Villepin. But a majority of French respondents, 51 percent, told pollsters the new government will be "neither better nor worse" than the previous one. Only 29 percent said the de Villepin government will do better, 8 percent said it will be worse and 12 percent gave no answer. Another poll published Thursday by the CSA group found 79 percent of those questioned did not believe the new government will improve the situation in the country within 100 days, as promised by Villepin.

I guess he can say the the European Constitution is more popular than the President of France so the voting should continue?

Please include original titles.
Thanks.
I'm sorry.
The (Chirac - 27% approval rating) part was mine but somehow when i posted the other part got added on. i'll try not to let it happen again.
But he still has near 100% approval ratings with American liberals.
*****the new government will be "neither better nor worse" than the previous one. *****8
The frogs are used to incompetent government .
No wonder Chirac's trying to blame Blair, who had nothing to do with Chirac's French referendum. At least Britain is an EU member, which makes Blair easier to blame than George Bush this time (even though Chirac says that America is part of the Anglosphere so maybe it is partly Bush's fault). :D
yeah, but they're irrelevant.
Don't get too excited. Unfortunately, this probably just means that the average French voter doesn't think Chirac's policies lean far enough to the left.
Hehehhehe...it's all Bush's fault!
The sad news is that they don't like him because they think he is too conservative!
Clinton/Chirac for 2008!
Way less than of President Bush.
Can anyone name another president whose political enemies both foriegn and doemestic have crashed and burned as much as Bush's have? We need to make a list....
