KTTV-11 Fox affiliate in L.A. says he's believed to be alone in the van.
This all started at 8:22 in unincorporated Newberry Springs. The 911 call to police was from a woman who was reporting this man, but apparently does not know him.

We had that in NC a couple of years ago. Some Mexican guy had taken his girlfriend/wife hostage and she was driving his pick-up while he held a gun to her. They chased them around Raleigh and then on up through Durham and onto I-85 heading north toward Richmond. If I remember right, somewhere short of Petersburg, VA and I-95, I think they spiked his tires and before she could pull over and bail he killed her and then himself.

It's a Dodge...it looks like my Montana. Perhaps the guy is upset because the grandkid in the back won't stop crying because the Care Bears video tape broke. Dude! No need for that semi-auto...just stop at Blockbuster!!

Did he say "we're still efforting information?"
"Efforting?"
Effort is not a verb, Trace. You are fired.
