Yes...but it isn't making the news. Mrs. HJ sat a trial in US District Court in Tucson where they convicted a family of running a drop house, the coyote was tried separately...and it never made it into the papers or TV.
If we did, maybe the coyotes would start to think twice about the cost of their criminal enterprise...there certainly isn't much disincentive now.
It's pretty well kept out of the news here in CA too. I agree it should be front page news, and the penalties should be stiff to discourage future coyotes (and illegals).
When the guys who held illegals at gun point got sentenced it was all over the news for several days.
