NEW YORK -- The actor Russell Crowe was arrested Monday morning for allegedly throwing a telephone at an employee of the Manhattan hotel where he was staying, police said.
Crowe, 41, allegedly threw the phone at the Mercer Hotel employee, striking him in the face, during an argument at around 4:20 a.m., said police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wysokowski.
The Australian movie star was arrested and charged by police with second degree assault, Wysokowski said.
Crowe was expected to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court later on Monday.
An employee who answered the phone at the Mercer Hotel in SoHo said he was unaware of the incident.
Crowe won the Academy Award for best actor for "Gladiator" in 2001.
Again?
Yup - another ill-tempered, pampered, spoiled, egomaniacal celebrity. No doubt a liberal who looks down on the little people while purporting to care oh-so much about them.
Tracy Burgess (sp?) had this story as "Breaking Scum News" a little after six this morning on the Imus program.
Short memory, huh?
Looks like the Cinderella Man should go to bed at midnight.
Not at all. He meant himself getting hit in the head. Other people are (obviously) still fair game.
LOL! I remember reading that somewhere. Maybe Russell has been hit in the head too many times and his memory is shot. What an arrogant sleazball Crowe is.
Yes, I was saying the same thing.
Cha-ching! Nice settlement coming for this guy.
Wasn't there an episode of South Park which had a Russell Crowe reality show where he went all over the world on a tugboat beating up people?

"He was upset because he couldn't get a call out to Australia," said Sgt. Michael Wysokowski. "He threw a phone at the employee hitting him in the face and causing a minor laceration."
LOL!!!
Such a good actor. With such a volatile temper.
