I don't follow Jerry Lewis much except when we lived in France all our neighbors loved his unfunny continence. They would ask me and be surprised I didn't care for the guy.

I understand what Laura Hershey means. Many of the handicapped I met at Pinellas Park were not expecting some promised cures, were more interested in getting on with their lives.

If the adults don't want the help, fine. He's got plenty of children on his radar who might benefit.
When signing his autograph, my friend offered him his pen - which was red - and Jerry said - 'it won't work, has to be black.' For some reason my friend insisted, and when Jerry attempted to use it, and of course it did NOT work , he said " See, next time you'll listen to me and do what I tell you to do". Amazing.
For this reason, I have no desire to meet famous people whom I have long admired for the fear of their 'infamous' personalities emerging.
As far as the work he does in raising money and awareness...at least he makes an effort. JK
