DES MOINES, IA - Rep. Steve King, R- Iowa, called Friday for deploying the military to seal the borders against illegal immigration, coupled with new financial penalties for companies that hire illegals.
"The destination of America is going to be shaped alot by immigration policy," said King, who said he will introduce legislation "in the next several weeks."

Sadly, you're right.
Granted, war isn't good for recruitment. Volunteer figures were never worse in America as they were during the Korean War and Viet Nam.
"Granted, war isn't good for recruitment. Volunteer figures were never worse in America as they were during the Korean War and Viet Nam."
Part of the problem is that we're flogging the troops really hard, including the National Guard.
If we had 18 divisions like we did during the Cold War, as well as an adequate Reserve/NG to back them up, then we would not be subjecting our troops to the present deployment pace.
I agree whole-heartedly that we need to build out military back up to its former strength, including the Navy.
POSSE COMITATUS
If anything, the end of the Cold War argued for a BIGGER military overall.
That's all right by me. Just don't expect anyone else to take him, or you, seriously.
Being taken seriously by you is one of the last things I could think of that would concern me.
Of course the unions while howl like banshees. All their screaming about "American sovereignty" disguises the fact that Mexicans are willing to work for less than Americans. Mexicans introduce efficiency and discipline to a US work force that has become fat, lazy, bloated and inefficient.
These Mexicans are the best way to destroy the creeping socialism/protectionism that is infecting the US economy
So let's pass the president's proposal. The business communtiy likes it, the Hispanics like it, the unions hate it, as do Hilary and Pat Buchanan. Sounds like a sure fire winner to me!
"Being taken seriously by you is one of the last things I could think of that would concern me."
From what I've seen of you on FR, being taken seriously by anyone who has any clue as to what needs to be done is the last thing that would ever concern you.
They are here illegally. Passing anything that looks, smells, or can be reasonably spun as an amnesty will simply encourage more illegal immigration, unless we can secure the border.
It's back...
That class of "IT" should have the title "Drive By Troll" bestowed upon it.
That's funny...considering that at least 90% of the folks here agree with me, and disagree with you concerning immigration.
That pretty much goes for the other issues I've seen you trolling around here lately.
You bring a bad spirit to any debate I've seen you involved in.
"That's funny...considering that at least 90% of the folks here agree with me, and disagree with you concerning immigration."
90% of the folks here think that cutting the military to the bone and then giving them another manpower-intensive mission is a good thing?
I didn't know you had such a low opinion of the intelligence of FReepers.
You are a coward, you would never say that to my face. A case of message board testosterone, I'll bet you are a little twit in person. You crack me up.
"You are a coward, you would never say that to my face."
That makes us even. There's no way in hell you'd accuse me of hiring illegal aliens to my face.
I want the invasion stopped. Unlike the left-edge-of-the-Bell-Curve folks who seem to dominate this issue on this site, I realize that it will take a lot of men and a lot of money to do so.
Dear admin moderator;
In jest I asked the poster "BeHOldAPaleHorse" if he hires illegal aliens. In response he asked me how many little boys I sodomize. I can take personal attacks with a grain of salt but this is way over the top, since I know younger freepers lurk here. Below is the post, he deserves to be pulled in my opinion, but I leave that up to you.
R,
Joe

"It could be done, easily."
Sure. I bet you hump construction supplies on your back three miles at a time every day, right?
"A secure border is not complicated or rocket science."
No, it isn't.
It is, however, going to cost money. Nobody's willing to actually spend that money. Representative King talks about having the army on the border--but he has helped cut our army to the point where we simply don't have the manpower we need for our current commitments, let alone our current commitments plus securing 2,100 miles of US-Mexican border. He also hasn't proposed bringing those ment back.
Until people are willing to bite the bullet and spend the money, I don't take them seriously. Talk is painless. Writing checks hurts.
"By the way how many illegals work for you?"
None, which is significantly less than the number of little boys you sodomize each week.
"Aliens are a very important source of low cost labor for US employers. If this dingleheaded Congresman succeeds in cutting off the supply of cheap, hard working Mexican labor, inflation will result. "
Yes, and people like displaced construction workers will make a living again and college kids will get some of those jobs.
If cheap labor is the be all, end all, then we can convert super tankers to cattle cars and import a billion chinese and Indians and what have you. Then we could have a two tiered caste society with the illegals as "untouchables".
That's a fine brave new world you guys want. You are sick.
