I'll confess. I AM interested in protecting the Quran, but for one reason only--to protect the lives of Americans and others abroad. The military's protocol on the handling of the Quran is designed to prevent outrage, however absurd (and really how much outrage in Muslim countries isn't absurd on some level?) and the human and diplomatic crises wacky Muslim outrage causes. I can understand that.

What I don't understand and what I fully resent are liberals and MSM cretins adopting Muslims' views regarding the sacredness or holiness of the Quran as their own.

Speaking of absurdities, how bizarre is it that thoroughly secular Blue Staters for whom little or nothing is sacred (think of flag-burning or Andres Serrano's Piss Christ) would get all worked up over the 'insensitivity' of 'mistreating' a freakin' book?

The best way to protect our Americans abroad, is to make these Islamo-Fascists sh*t-birds KNOW that each and every time that they look cross-eyed at an American, their butt is grass and we are the lawnmower.

These maggots don't understand anything less.

Well, by publishing this report in this manner the Pentagon has opened the gates of hell. Maybe they believe openess is the best policy but... Well, it's hard to say. Are we in a WW2 style global conflict here?

The Newsweek report impact will be nothing compared to the reaction to this. Especially the vagueness about the urine... Is this going to be clarified?

What a mess.

Muslims only respect power and the will to use it. Their collective cultures and their religion are pretty authoritative yet.

Our cowtowing to their book when we are mostly Christians and Jews is viewed by them as subordinating our beliefs to accommodate them and more a weakness than an act of respect.

They would never do that. They scream Jew or Christian bastard or whatever term they have when they saw folk's heads off with pocketknives. I doubt they worry a lot about respecting the Bible or Torah....God forbid the Talmud too.

You and I are rather rational. You more than I of course but they are not....well maybe Turkey but they are apostate Muslims....and have their own rather sordid history too.

The best way to protect Americans and others abroad to me is to make Muslims terrified to wage war on us, not by protecting their book. And to make the zealots doubt themselves and their religion....their God to be exact. That is precisely what Pershing did in the Philipines more or less. He attacked them and their beliefs.

Now...do we have the will yet to do that?

No obviously, not yet so maybe you are right till then. I tend not to think so as a mean realist but you do raise a valid point worthy of contemplating. However....aside from Bin Laden wishing himself the new Caliph of Saudi, this is a religious war to them. We like to pretend it's not to us, but it is.....at a minimum if only by default..... We have been at war with these fools for 1300 years. The Fat Lady is nowhere in sight.
