Thanks. I have strongly believed that he would take the lead as far as attacks go, part of the reason I keep putting him in the lead of these threads.. I actually predicted on another site that he would instigate the next massive attack against western interests.
Looking back at the text of that tape, I'd say you nailed it.
Perhaps.
I'm still confused about the nature of this attack. I mentioned yesterday that it didn't seem to quite fit the 'spectacular' nature of an operation from the top. An NBC analyst said the same thing last night on the nightly news. Then again, they likely planned on killing many more than actually died.
I am wondering if there is more to come based on his statement though.
Intel saying that the Zarqawi connection may be seperate from public comments. There is a possibility one of his associates left Iraq recently to go to Europe...
Will look for article on this, nothing yet.
I think they were planning on more casualties. They probably thought it would turn out worse than Madrid since the explosions were underground. I don't think they anticipated the rescue to be as quick and efficient as it was and the people to be as calm and resilient as they were. It would have been a lot worse had to other two bombs detonated underground. I don't think this was the "big" one though. More like a pep rally.
Yes, and either the Brits are playing things very close to the vest, or they have no clue who did it. I was thinking yesterday how the country is an island....and how there should be some manhunt all across the country for these murderers....yet I am not picking that up.

Three Phoenix police officers were wounded during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect outside a terminal at Sky Harbor International Airport late Thursday, a police spokesman said.
Details about the officers' injuries were not available but they were expected to survive, said Sgt. Randy Force, a Phoenix police spokesman. The suspect died at the scene, though it wasn't immediately clear whether he was shot by police or if his wound was self inflicted, Force said. < snip>
Someone called Coast to Coast last night and floored Steve Hagman and George Noory with the same scenario. Saying that it didnt make sense not to hit the crowds around Live8, where a lot more casualties would have resulted, and that France was likely behind the attack.
They didnt know what to say for a while.
You could plan the attack to happen "the day after the announcement" Look at how much integration the French had with Iraq, and the old Saddam regime.
Although Torrance police said their investigation was just beginning, several law enforcement officials said the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force was investigating the men for possibly planning a hate crime or other extremist action. The list found by investigators, according to one source, included a variety of public and private locations that would not logically be targeted by suspected robbers.

The men, both identified by authorities as U.S. citizens and Islamic converts, appeared Thursday in Torrance Superior Court with federal and local counterterrorism investigators and prosecutors on hand.
(forgot to add this)
the G8 just handed the Palestinians $3 billion!
If I posted this already I am sorry.
I am with you, this was not the Spectacular Attack the
are capable of or at least we think they are capable of.
Right now I am more concerned about Dennis, than AQ
Interesting theory about the French. I suppose it's possible, but the idea is a little out there IMO. I am of the belief that AQ likely has cells in certain cities (especially in Europe - probably including France) that are basically ready to go at a moment's notice. Survaillance of the transportation system is probably the easiest of all targets, just riding the train daily would keep whoever is interested in attacking it up to date with what goes on.
Understandable. It has been a very busy period in the news. I can't figure out which area to focus on.... I'm thinking about writing something up about the attack yesterday, but I'm still gathering info.
As far as Dennis, let's hope he decides to die out before hitting the U.S.
Amen.
