I think posting a story like this makes people aware. My husband was married before and his ex-wife allows her children to pretty much care for themselves, he tried to get custody, but the judges say basically he has little rights. The boy will hit and choke his sister over a video game. I think that most of this comes from a world where parents think their children "do no wrong, my little angel" also where we take up for our children in the extremest of circustances in order keep them from seeing consequences for their actions or to keep from having to face the fact that something might not be quite right. We also show children through television, games and media, children really can get away with murder...after all they say "what can they do to me, I am too young......"

Yep. I'm in a similar situation. My husband is not morally bankrupt because he is divorced. Heck, he didn't even want the divorce, but unfortunately his ex felt unfulfilled with monogamy. JMHO, painting all divorced people with the morally bankrupt brush is asinine.

Yes, children do suffer with divorce, but blaming a parent for something they could not prevent (thanks to no-fault divorce) is BS.

There is a whole lot of assumption going on about how horrible that dad and girlfriend are. Why not also assume that the father did not initiate the breakup of his previous marriage? Why not also assume that mommy dearest was fostering and encouraging jealousy of the infant half-sister?
