I come across lots of stories about infants, babies, toddlers on my google searches that are really horrific like this story. Usually what has been done to them has been done by a family member--parent mostly or the boyfriend. Just do a google search under newborn, baby, etc. and you will pull up something everyday. I've posted a few horrible stories and will probably post more in the future, but mostly I try to post the ones that are general interest or have a positive theme. That being said, there's no reason for you to be taken to task for posting this story. It's a legitimate news item and it's worth discussion just like any other story on FR.

We had a 4 y/o stab his sister to death here.

Four is probably too young to realize the consequences of their behavior.

I did say 'probably', because it is just a guess, of course. I based it on the fact that they raised a 7yr old who obviously had no regard for life or protection of the meek. There is something obviously wrong with a 7yr old that can shatter an infant's face with a 2x4. That's where they lost the benefit of the doubt in my opinion.

And yes, the 'Never' thing is an exaggeration - see post #73 - if you have 'Never' as you rule, everything else is a carefully calculated exception.

You need help, serious help if you think a 7 year old child should be exectued.

Then answer my post please.

Do you really want to live in a society that executes children?

I think you need to take a breath. Not saying I disagree but you're incredibly angry.

"You need help, serious help if you think a 7 year old child should be executed."

And what would be the best alternative? Throw him in jail for 20 years so when he gets out, after wasting hundreds of thousands of taxpayer money, is now a hardened criminal more capable of the very thing he was sent into jail to begin with?

I'm sorry, but any child of 7 capable of such a violent murder and have no remorse is a soulless bastard and a lost cause.

Most children need to form a loving attachment to another person, preferably a parent, by the time they are 5 years old, otherwise their chances of becoming a sociopath increase by 50%. If they aren't bonded by 7, it goes up even more. If they aren't bonded by 9, it is already too late.

I was jealous of my baby sister, too. I was "the baby" for 5 years when she came into our lives. Did I beat her to death? No, I went into the closet and cried my eyes out. Unfortunately, in my grandmother's older home, the closet door locked and I was stuck in there until my father could take the door off and get me out.

Mom and Dad spent a lot of time holding me and comforting me afterwards, and then let me hold the baby while sitting between them. They talked to me about how this little girl would need me, just like they needed me, and how lucky she was to have me for a big sister. Then Mom made me promise to be a good big sister, and to help my little sister as she grew up, because she already loved me. My sister grabbed my finger, and I KNEW she already loved me.

She's my best friend now, and I would do anything for her.

Then again, I was raised in a very strict, structured household, with two loving, stern parents, who taught us early what was right and wrong and that there were consequences for our actions.

I have two children of my own, and am expecting a 3rd. I'm raising mine the exact same way. And when this new baby comes, I will introduce him or her to my children the same way my parents did it for me; by instilling in me a sense of obligation, and a sense of pride, in being an older sibling.

Rather than have me defend my posting of a news item , why not tell me why you think it should NOT be posted?

First of all, chill.

Second, I don't think one can make the arguement that child abuse/death stories are more frequent than they were, say, five years ago. It's just that they are appearing more on FR.

Is it morbid fascination? Is it a concern over the downward spiral of our culture? Is it that five years ago, FR was primarily a political site and now it is more than that? Is it a desire to post and these type of stories are "interesting". I am just trying to understand.

Had I found the article first, I would have posted it because until we responsible adults demand changes in society they aren't going to happen.

It's an ugly heartbreaking story but turning your eyes away will not bring the child back to life.

Quit whining, take your damn blinders off and see reality as it is. I know the truth is too much to bear for too many but shunning it doesn't make it go away.

"Do you really want to live in a society that executes children?"

Do you believe in a society that pities someone that violently murders an infant child with his fists, feet and 2x4 with no remorse when finished?

Age is inconsequential. The kid is monster. At the very least he would deserve exactly what he dished out.

You got that right!

My kids are five years apart and my son ,the oldest ,was very protective and caring to his Baby sister ,the jealousy thing didn't happen until she was about three, but with proper guidance he got over it!

He is still very protective over his sister and wouldn't let any harm come to her!

I don't know what's more disturbing: the fact that we've had 2 murders in the past week by kids under 10, or the fact that we're callnig for them to be killed.

Then would you be willing to be the executioner of such children?

And how would you do it?

What is the age limit?

And lastly, what is your definition of a child?

And the Supreme Court says we can't put this kid to death.

Well, duh, he is 7 years old. Even Scalia once said that in his opinion the VIII Amendment prohibits executing minors that are younger than 14.

Not being controlled enough by a mother who uses him for emotional support?

Where are you getting this from? I didn't hear anything about the 7 year old's mother on the radio nor read anything about his mother in the article. Do you happen to know these people or something?

"There was a lack of loving nurturing in the kid's own home, i.e. he's witnessed other beatings."

I will bet my left leg, my good one, on that statement! Children copy what they learn from their parents. Yell at your child and they will yell at their sister and/or brother, hit your your child and they will hit their sister and/or brother.

May God have more Grace toward you, than you have for your fellow man. I feel sorry for you that you could even suggest such a thing as putting a 7 year old to death.
