I am actually for clamping down our borders. If we do not enforce our borders, why have them in the first place?
I am just saying that the fact that people object to the amnesty proposals in concert with controlling the border and reworking the immigration visa requirements is proof that the border is not the root issue with alot of these people.

The issue is that we need to do an undertaking of what is really going on, not just make people feel good and wipe the slate clean with some hair brained amensty program.
You keep saying about a criminal record. How do you check when these people go under many aliases, have no documents with them, and don't want to be here legally in the first place when they get everything anyway? What is the deterrent? There is none.

I agree. But any talk of 'amnesty' simply increases the flood. I've been to Mexico and readily admit, I'd run, jump, swim, crawl or find someway to get myself across the border, had I been born there. I suspect Mexico is in for a revolution some time soon.
