Years ago I tried to read them, out of morbid curiosity, and couldn't get half way through either one. Both were B-O-R-I-N-G, badly written, and turgid beyond belief.
It's been remarked that most Germans had the obligatory coffee table copy of "Mein Kampf" during the Nazi years, but nobody ever actually read it, and it would be interesting to know how many communists have ever read "The Communist Manifesto".
I read through the entire communist manifesto for an economics class. The opportunity to then debate and berate the class's avowed communist made it worth the read, but then that was the only thing that made it worth the read.
Even Hitler said if he knew he was going to be as successful as he was he would never have written the book.
I've read both. The communist manifesto is little more than a political pamphlet. Mein kampf is a farily unstructured collection of rants.
Worth reading if only to see what embittered envy and arrogance (with no apparrent accomplishment to back it up) can produce.

"Out of curiosity, has anyone here ever managed to read through either "The Communist Manifesto" or "Mein Kampf"? "
I had to read the Commie Manifesto and Mein Kampf as a class assignment in High School. Both were incredibly boring. I don't recall if I were able to get through the entire books. But I do remember it was insightful from the stand point Marx and Hitler outlined and fully disclosed their evil deeds and ideas. It left no doubt of their intentions...
I did "see" a copy of "Mein Kampf" that was recovered from a salvaged [US] sub.
"Mein Kampf" I read as required reading along with "HIlter, A Study in Tyranny" in high school civics class.
"Mein Kampf" was mind numbing, the othr excellant.
Now if you mean Das Kapital, i believe i heard Krauthammer once call that "The Great Unread Book" and wished that more leftists/communist/socialists would actually read it and see how utterly stupid it is.
We read, discussed and were tested on "The Communist Manifesto" in a "History of Sociological Thought" course in college. I recently came across my underlined copy. It's not exactly a page turner, but important reading to understand what the Communists are after as they work behind the scenes in our society to destroy the capitalist way of life step by step.
