I have read in different places that Aramaic does not have an actual word for cousin, and brother was routinely used for close relatives. I'm sure you will disagree, but you may find these link helpful.

Jude identifies himself the same way and adds that he is the brother of James.

Yes, but by your method of interpretation, you would have to parse this and say that Jude is not the actual brother of James, would you not?

It's Greek, not Aramaic. And there is no way you can make adelphos, which literally means 'of the same womb' mean something other than its plain meaning.

Think of it this way, if the catholic dogma regarding this were true, and the early believers also held to it, don't you think they would have made SURE not to use 'of the same womb'. Answer? The same answer as to why Mary is never mentioned again after the historical accounts. Funny, Paul, Peter, James, Jude never feel a need to express catholic dogma about Mary. Hmm...

Regardless, anyone who knows the Torah knows that when Miriam [aka 'Mary'] went to the Temple in Luke 2:22ff for the purification - it was because:

1. She had bled.
2. The male child had 'opened her womb'.

In other words, she was no longer a virgin BY DEFINITION - so the whole need for catholics to go through these machinations regarding the brothers and sisters of Yeshua is moot.

When the time came for their purification according to the Torah of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to Ad-nai (as it is written in the Torah of Ad-nai , 'Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to Ad-nai") and also to offer a sacrifice of a pair of doves or two young pigeons,as required by the Torah of Ad-nai. Luke 2:22-24

There are whole passages of Scripture regarding this. There is entire tractate in the Talmud about this and other similar issues. The so-called 'Immaculate Conception' and the dogma around it is a pagan myth.
