Respectfully we may not "rule" but we definitly lead whether we like it or not. (see GWBush's change from not nation building to having made two so far)
I do also believe it keeps the dollar's place as the world's reserve currency safe for a while.
I see attacking the dollar's place as a world currency as the next step for trying to prop up the EU's legitimacy.
I don't mind leading - leading is not ruling. Words have meaning.
