"If Chirac had real vision, he would appoint Dominique de Villiers as his Prime Minister! "

I am assuming you mean Philippe de Villiers of the the ultra Nationalist Far Right MPM (Mouvement Pour la France)

Or do you mean Dominique de Villepin, the crap weasel in the $2000 suit and $200 haircut who trashed the US at the UN?

You should really get your cast of characters straight.

Are you sure you are French?

"And dammit, it's naturally clear that I'm German"?

I probably didn't get that right. ;-)

Not quite: "damit" means "with that." :-)

So the sentence means, "And of course that also makes it clear that I'm a German."

Actually it's:

"And with that (i.e. my preceding remarks, in which I mentioned Horst Koehler as "my president") it is of course obvious that I'm German."

Oops, you were faster!

Hey, I've seen at least a dozen American movies where the word "VERDAMMT !" (="dammit") is mentioned. Something like "U-571" or "Indiana Jones"...*LOL.

Chirac is toast politically, he is the lamest of lame ducks, and he deserves it, traitor.

"Don't worry, they'll be given another opportunity to correct this. And another. And another. As may times as it takes to get the result the elites want."

Ain't that the sad truth.

"From all I have seen, it lost because a significant number of French citizens do not want to allow non-French people to be able to work and take away jobs from French people."

Seems to me that the above makes no sense. These are the same morons that want less and less hours in the workday while allowing unfettered immigration. Look at the Muslim population in France, what % even speaks French? No, I can't see the above as likely.

There version of a "Free Trade Zone" is actually based on the United States.

And the people in our government are bent on imitating them back. The FTAA comes to mind.

I don't think these insane immigration policies are any more a result of popular demand over there than they are over here.

To be fair, Europe has much, much more history than America. As such, they do have more experience with wholesale bloodshed than we do. You're taking a strange tack here. You seem to think wolf is trying to play the US down when all he is doing is stating a fact. Taken on the whole, we have NOT suffered through war as much as Europe. The reasons for said wars are beside the point. Why can you not accept this? It doesn't denegrate America in any way. Seriously, what's the big deal? So what if we haven't been through as much bloodshed as Europe? How is that a bad thing? We chould be thanking God for it, not being angry when someone points it out.

And the people in our government are bent on imitating them back.

The free trade that we have between the states in our union, may be often imitated, but never duplicated.

Prime Minister Blair kind of tipped off what he wanted the EU to look like when he suggested the name "The United States of Europe".

The Europeans think they can copy our free trade blue print, making each nation a state like in the US, but we also have far more ideal conditions then they do.

Bare in mind, I have never seen any free trade agreement remotely similiar to the way we have it structured internally in the U.S....and we don't need a stinking Buracracy to make it work either.

Seems to me the Europeans' history of blood spilling was BECAUSE THEY STARTED THE BLOODLETTING!!!!!!!!!!!

You cannot have a history of generosity of spirit and humane behavior if YOU DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

The USA has a short history of decency and sacrifice, probably learned from the decadence and inhumanity in earlier societies ( I shall not call them civilizations).

Hillary has more than a chance, and I'm troubled by the divisions within the Republican pary electorate.

She will have the support of neary every dim & lib, the MSM, and most importantly, Bill & Co.

I preferred the title "Union of Soviet Socialists States of Europe", but yours works well too.

For the record, the "USE" idea was Tony Blair, and it obviously didn't go well.

Who said I forgot them? Not me. All I said was that they had more of a history with that kind of thing. Why is this such a difficult thing to say? It in no way diminishes America. Sheesh.
