You should read the books by William W. Johnstone, especially the Out of the Ashes series. It is a shame that he died last year.

I appreciate your answer. Most entry level jobs start below that, but people who are decent employees get raises rapidly at Walmart, Costco etc. Employers value good employees because the costs to replace them are high. Unions limit what good employees can earn and the union protects the bad employee. Why would an employer want to deal with a union?

Escuse me. When is it Wal Mart's job to make sure you have what others have? The people I see working at our local WM's are either retired and wanted something to do or their wives or husbands told them to find something to do! Others are high school kids who want their own money. If you want more money then work somewhere else! It is that simple. I will give you an example. We have a yard man who does most of the yards on our short street. He has another full time job but he likes being outdoors so he started cutting grass and all the other things associated with keeping a yard looking nice. Besides that, he is raising his nephews and they have started working for him. No one is made to work at WM! We just got back from there and I did not see one unhappy worker. And, this store started hiring new workers since they have so much business.
If you do not like Wal Mart then do not shop there! It is that simple.

But the left hates success. They feel they are entitled to whatever anyone else has, just from a gift from the government.

?I'm only a masochist if I enjoy being called sicko, insane, bolshie, commie, liberal, can't remember all the names which I do not. Few people enjoy that sort of thing. Some manage to get used to it and ignore it, not give up, not be a quitter. No - you are a masochist because you claim not to like it, yet keep coming right back to where it had happened and saying the exact same things that caused it to happen. either grow an alligator hide or drop the subject. And BTW - I have been called far worse than any of those things - but one thing I've never been called, and thatis a racist - yet you feel that it was quite alright to call those who disagree with you racists without knowing anything about them.
I feel for your friend, and have no problem with her and her mother getting some assistance when it is needed - so don't put words in my mouth or get all high and mighty with me.
As to some of us not wanting to live in the type house she lived in, how the heck do you know? I know for sure there are lots of people that wouldn't want to live in my house or where I live - but I really don't care. All that matters is me and my family are happy here.
You are a whiny, little masochist who also happens to be a racist and all because others look at things with in a logical, rational frame of reference and not some touchy-feely attitude more appropriate for bleeding heart liberals than conservatives.

Most people who start small businesses afford their employees some kind of group health insurance. You are totally in left field if you believe this - and have obviously never been a small business owner.

My only comment as to greedy and inconsiderate is that I doubt they do their shopping at Wal Mart, although I think a few probably do. I doubt any politician's spouse shops at Wal Mart. You need to get out more.............

If you do not like Wal Mart then leave it alone. The people I see working there are high school and college students and retired people. I have a much younger friend. She works at a day care in a church. But, she is smart. She is going to college at night to better herself. That is what you do. There are all kinds of scholarships out there and some are never used. If you try, a company might pay for that education.
BTW, I do not feel sorry for you. We have a small company we started. During the rough rimes, we did without a pay check so the employees got paid. This went on for several months. We cut back on what we spent. I would imagine this would be true of many small companies.

nothing is as bad or as ugly as the arrogance of the "small town upper crust." I've seen the arrogance of Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue types and it doesn't compare. Not even close. You are so right on the money!!!!! I've worked on Park Avenue and on Wall Street, but have now spent the majority of my adult life in what a native New Yorker (such as myself) considers small town America, even though until 2 years ago I was in a state Capitol.
One advantage, though, of the small town living is that the politicians can't really hide. They are your neighbors, the local shop owners, the parents of your kids' firends.......you run into them in the supermarket, the dry cleaner, the hardware store, and in Walmart.
