The agreement is going to fall apart at the first RAT filibuster of a judge. The Republicans will claim the RATs broke the pledge because "extreme circumstances" don't exist.

Naturally, the RATs will argue otherwise and the MSM will side with the RATs, but both sides will have a plausible cover story for their actions.

The heat will be on the weasel Republicans, except for the ones from New England, to go nuclear and they will do it unless they want this to be their last term in the Senate.

In hindsight, the agreement will have merely postponed the inevitable.

I hope you're right. But I have been voting Republican for all federal offices since I became eligible to vote in 1958, and I have witnessed far too many occasions where Repubs have shown an uncanny ability to salvage a disastrous loss from an almost certain win.

I will believe we survived this latest debacle with only a relatively small loss when I see a conservative USSC Justice being sworn into office.
