Sums it up nicely. You can always count on the stupid party to shoot itself in the foot.

Now we know who to apply the pressure to that flipfloped. They showed themselves as to who they are and made themselves the target.

The question is, if push came to shove, and the vote was before the 7 Gopers on changing the rules, would 2 of the 7 have voted for the rule change or not?

The hope is that the Dems will do something stupid, allow 2 or 3 of the 7 to say the Dems broke the deal, then vote on the rule change.

Or make them fillibuster and shut the Govt down THEN vote on the change.

" the Democrats believe they won"

No, the Democrats know they won.

The deal just forced out into the open a truth which a lot of people have been avoiding up until now - there are only 45-48 "real" Republicans in the Senate. Until we get to 51, things like this are going to keep happening.

I know where the ninth circuit is, but where's the 6th? Certainly the ninth needs help. My guess is that there is a lot of strategy on the part of the liberals in this little deal. They really need to control only a couple of circuit courts to make their way to the Supremes, as long as they hold sway over five of the Supremacists.

48 + 2 (out of 14) + VP = GOP Victory

The liberal "Republicans" got together with the Democrats to continue the blocking of conservative judges. It is as simple as that.

Just don't blame it on the stupid party. Blame it on the "Two-Party Cartel' with 2 factions that are owned & run by the elites. These elites tell thme how to vote & set these circumstances up when the big issues hit the votes. Yea, we conservatives get a small bone throw to us at times but not on big issues. I guarantee that if there were 80 (R) senators there would be 30 moderates at least. The problem with the elites is that they never figured that the pubbies could get the majority so that's where this battle becomes blurred. And also I have stated since GW was elected that there would be NO true conservative Supreme Court when he leaves. Fits right into this theory & it will be fact in 3 yrs.

6th: Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee. So what are the cases pending here that the liberals need to control? Or could this be about future plans for lawsuit elections? Is this a particularly liberal court?

This article, is short sighted and incorrect.

Frist won a large prat of the political battle yesterday, and at the end of the day, Harry Reid had bent over, pulled down his pants grabbed a handful of vaseline, and relented before he got jammed.

Owen,Brown,Pryor = 3 youngest, most conservative of the nominees.

All will be placed at the Appellate level, and one will be on SCOTUS someday (probably Brown).

Without Firing the Shot.

Also consider Frist offerred 100 hours of debate on each nominee, which took up all of last week.

The Dems could have voted for Cloture, Confirmed Owen, and then launched into a tirade aobut how Frist was taking weeks over just three judges.

That didnt happen here.

200 Hours, two weeks of bad press alleviated,

advantage Frist.

3 Youngest (that means lngest serving) most Conservative nominees going onto the Fed Apellate Bench, without firing a shot...

advantage Frist.

5 left, with the dems promising only to filibuster the most extreme, well by their stated case, the most extreme were Owen,Brown,Pryor...therefore it is illegitimate to filibuster any of the others...

Advantage Frist.

If the Dems do filibuster the less extreme nominees, the (r)'s are free to vote the Nuke.

Advantage Frist.

Elevating Brown to SCOTUS, having been part of the MoU, makes the Dems unable to contest her.

Advantage Frist.

All Harry Reid got yesterday, was a little bit of face saving. No More. No Less.

The new alignment of the Senate in practice is 52 Democrats and 48 Republicans with several more Republicans likely to defect (ie. Smith of Oregon, etc.).

The Democrats won the battle over who gets to shape the federal judiciary.

As Owen gets confirmed...
As Brown will get confirmed...
...
mmmhmmm.

The Democrats won the battle over who gets to shape the federal judiciary.

And in their first post-battle shaping, the Democrats confirmed Priscilla Owen to be a federal judge, ending years of fighting over her nomination.

You can always count on the stupid party to shoot itself in the foot.

Guess the next foot shooting by the stupid party will be to confirm Janice Brown....

See, this is the problem: we're screaming about this result instead of claiming the victory ourselves. The Dems (who have basically abandoned their plans to block Bush appointees) can now say they've "thwarted the right-wing plot to destroy the filibuster" or whatever.

The party isn't stupid. The Senate leadership is weak and timid and doesn't appear to wish to punish treasonous defectors like the seven dwarfs.

You can make the party much smarter by holding back contributions to any party group that gives money to either of the seven dwarfs. Once they see their contributions taking a nosedive, they'll smarten up real fast.

It's apparent that the old adage that a Republican in office is better than any Democrat is a fallacy. The problem is Liberals and Moderates whether they like elephants or donkeys. Too bad Nast is no longer around to draw an animal just for them.....perhaps a snake would do well.

I think that recall efforts, where possible and feasible, need to be supported, funded and mounted to get these seven out of office or, where not possible, get some good primary challenges going.

When all of usdo our damndest to elect a Republican majority only to have seven snakes like these turn around and spit in our faces, then the others who benefited from our turnout...the President and the Senate and House leadership...need to send each of the seven dwarfs a strong and prejudicial message.
