There is a Durkin!! Durbin's Republican opponent last time was a downstate Congressman named John Durkin, a solid conservative who got NO HELP from the NRC because they believed Durbin, despite his abortion extremist views (enthusiastic advocate of partial-birth abortion) to be unbeatble. Durkin ran so few commercials on TV, I never saw one.
And since you never saw a commercial, Durkin's name didn't make it to the sunny side of the toll booths.
