Again, you wave the ad hominem flag as a silencer. It won't work. There is nothing ad hominem about pointing out Dawkins veiws on religion when he makes bigotted attacks based in religion on an entire states population.

Einstein was a socialist. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford had anti-semitic views. Werner Heisenberg worked on the Nazi atomic bomb project. Do we question relativity because of Einstein's political beliefs? Of course not. Do we stop driving cars or using light bulbs because of Ford and Edison's political beliefs? Do we reject quantum mechanics because Heisenberg did not defect from Nazi Germany? Do we question the value of their scientific and technological achievements? No, of course not.

It is for these reasons I reject the relevancy of constantly bringing up Dawkin's political beliefs. As others have also noted, they are neither relevant to science in general, nor evolutionary biology in particular.

Guilt by association is a very dangerous game to play. The best of men have warts. I just read recently that the initial pogroms of the Jews were actually JUSTIFIED IN WRITING (Himmler) by appealing to Martin Luther's rants against the Jews. I did not believe it (Luther is one of my heroes), till I looked it up. Depressed me most of the day.

I haven't traced the thread, and I don't know about Dawkins' political views. However, I find him an arrogant, intolerant, intolerable asshole who is far more impressed with his own cognitive capabilities than is justified. He reminds me of what I would be like if I were real smart.

Right, it's also bs and I'll tell you why. I accept evolution as a fact. Now why would I smear myself as a "lily-livered Bush hating leftist"?

Making assertions is easy, backing them up is a bit more difficult when the assertion is wrong. I don't smear groups of people. I do and will attack marxists, leftists and other assorted folks of that ilk when and where I find them.
