In all the discussions since last night, has anyone seen any comments about why Specter wasn't a part of this group? If I had to guess between he and Warner joining the cabal..I'd have guessed Arlen..
Just a guess, but maybe Arlen could see that the cabal was usurping his power on the Judiciary, since they've said they're going to "look over the names Bush submits."
Or maybe Arlen foud some Scottish law...lol.
Ken, if you can, please watch C-SPan right now and tell me your take on what all Arlen is saying.
I am so incensed about this "compromise" that I have been unable to post until now. All 7 of these traitors are getting a little nasty-gram from me today. My message to McCain will include the line, "You can forget about the Presidency, Senator McCain. You lost it with your shameless pandering to the mainstream media and your sell-out of conservative ideals in the most important political battle in decades."
Granted, I would never have voted for McCain to begin with, but I have now placed him in the same category as the Clintons--never, ever would I vote for him, just as I would never ever vote for Bill or Shrillary. After listening to George Allen over the past few weeks on John Bolton and the filibuster issue, I have decided to back him should he run in '08. He has been very impassioned and eloquent on both issues and hasn't been afraid to rip the Dims for their outrageous behavior.
I think Arlen couldn't sign on because he's the Chair of the Judiciary Committee. How would it look for him to join into an agreement that could block floor votes on nominees that have already passed through his committee and been approved?
