Republicans promised not to go nuclear (I hate that terminology) for 1-1/2 years.

Nope, only the RINO 7 promised that. That means that they can defeat the efforts of the rest of the Pubs, but if they get scorched by the Rats, they just might join the majority.

Plus, they would look REALLY stupid if the 7 Rats cross them which would make me happy.

We can only expect up-or-down votes. There's never been an expectation that all would be confirmed, though you'd hope so since we're in the majority.

Rush is moderating his opinion somewhat. Reads a note from Frist's office that he will pursue an up-or-down votes on ALL judges and that the nuclear option is still on the table.

I have violently resisted any urge to yell about Frist! I am staying in his corner, until the bitter end. I think he deserves it for now! I love Rick and George Allen!

No they won't. They've already said, in effect, that the "nuclear option" is unthinkable. That's why they did their treachery yesterday. (OF course they also knew there would be plenty of Republicans who would make excuses for them - like you?)

Having extra rats vote yes are going to make future filibusters much harder.

Why ... Reid has agreed to let 3 judges go ... the fireworks don't start until after that.

Reading the MOU, it appears that three nominees will get cloture, two won't, and beyond that who knows -- especially regarding SCOTUS nominees.

What's even worse is when you say you wish you could zot someone and they look at you like are speaking Chinese.

I know exactly what you mean.

I talk and yell at my computer screen all the time. They will look at me with raised eyebrows or worried looks on their faces, I'm sure they are thinking, my wife/mother has lost her mind. lolol

any SCOTUS nominee who would vote to toss Roe v Wade - will automatically activate the "extradordinary circumstances" concept. what happens to these 3 judges that pass, and the ones that don't, is damn near meaningless. will the Rs on the compromise team change their minds when they see a SCOTUS nominee being blocked? You would suspect that would have come up in the discussions on this deal. It surely did, and you can be sure that the Dems have it in their back pocket - none of these 7 will peel off when the battle for the SCOTUS is at hand. It may not happen with Rehnquist's seat, because replacing him with a conservative is an "even trade". Try and replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg with Owens or Brown, and watch what happens.

I thought Reid and Frist signed off on it. If not, we should pound on our senators with both fists A.S.A.P. before the slime of this agreement sinks in and get the Republican senate to force the rats into breaking the agreement by going to filibuster.
