we still need to get to 60, or as close to 60 as possible, in 2006.
Would that matter? What have the Republicans done with the 55 we gave them this election?
The Republicans need to prove now that they:
(1) are committed to actually enacting a conservative agenda and not are just talking about it, and
(2) are willing and able to discipline its dissident members to prevent them from subverting that agenda.
Without those, no number of nominally "Republican" Senators will ever be adequate. They'll be telling you in 2007 to give more money so that they can get the 67 Senators they need to accomplish something.
My message to GOP "leadership":
- No more "bait and switch"
- No more talk without action
Show me now that you are worthy of my support. Not tomorrow. Now.
Confirm every single one of the nominated judges. No exceptions, no excuses.

Well said. You hit the heart of the matter. These are Republicans, not conservatives. They don't have a political philosophy. They don't have a moral framework. They don't give a tinker's damn about anything but reelection. Remind you of, say, a President in the last decade of the last century?
