Even if mentioned in passing, I think Rush mentioning Dean's past drinking habits is unfortunate. We gripe when the left pokes at Bush's history of drinking -- why should we bring up Dean's?

Only to illustrate the hypocrisy. That's the problem of living in a glass house and Dr. Dean needs to learn the lesson.

Because it is a legitimate concern, how many times have you heard that W has crawled back into the bottle.
Has Dean ever really crawled out of the bottle, or has he substituted something else for his addiction?

Bush hasn't made a point of discussing other people's past short comings or addictions. If Dean wants to criticize Rush for his problems it's only fair that Dean's past gets brought to light

why should we bring up Dean's? Why not? We should also bring up his son being a criminal.

You needed to listen to what he said in context before jumping to that conclusion. I didn't have room to write more on the thread's subject line. No doubt the transcript will be posted at his web site later on and I plan to post in to this thread.

I never knew Dean had a drinking problem. But when I watched the "Dean scream" with my mother for the first time, I told her, "You know, he looks like a drinker". She said, "You know, you are absolutely right. Maybe that is what is wrong with him".
What's past is past. The thing is, he still seems to act like one. I've known angry drinkers.

Dean pretended to snort coke as Rush Limbaugh. Something Rush never did.
Rush has had his medical records used for a fishing expedition. He has asked that Howard Dean release his own medical records. He says that Dean even sealed some of his record as Governor. What does he have to hide?

I'd agree if Rush brought it up out of thin air. But when someone mocks you for having a substance abuse problem, isn't it one's duty to mention that the accuser has, too? Especially since Deano used the favorite word of Dems--hypocrisy.
How many people would be bashing W for his past misdeeds if they were required to 'fess up about their own?
