Huh? We have a large Sikh community near here (that's often contentious among itself) and I've never heard them describe themselves as Muslim. The Hindu nationalists in India describe them as Hindu, a designation they also reject.

Sikhs don't regard themselves as Muslims and they certainly have nothing in common. There is a lot of commonality between Sikhs and Hindus, however.
