While the storm troopers of doubt circled the beleaguered boxoffice of late, the Force was beginning to flex its power as 20th Century Fox's "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" was shattering records out of the gate with an estimated $16.5 million-to-$17 million in receipts from the midnight shows alone, the distributor said Thursday. "We'll be counting the grosses for a while. It's an absolutely remarkable number. It seems like the industry got kickstarted last night at midnight," said Bruce Snyder, president of domestic distribution for Fox. Snyder noted that final numbers will not be available for some time because midnight shows are not usually broken out of a single day's gross at the boxoffice. "Revenge of the Sith" began playing midnight shows in 2,900 theaters in North America at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. Snyder could not give a firm screen count, but noted that it could be significantly higher because of interlocking, the practice of taking one print and showing it on multiple screens within a theater, and the lack of any other films playing midnight shows on Thursday.
While this is true, remember it is OBI-WAN who says this about absolute good and evil, and I think one point is that Obi-wan's judgment ain't that good (I'd rate it with David's when it comes to women). I think this was subtle: OW says there is no absolute good and evil, yet he has already shown he's clueless.
I have seen it twice. moving last scene.. and all the locales of filming (for any of you that like me watch the credits). Recall the first one in 77 was filmed primarily in afghan?
Movie fees at Cinemark (our best stadium seating, top quality sound) is
$4.oo early bird;
all shows before 6 - 5.50;
seniors $5.25;
regular 7:50
what a nice overview.. thanks for posting this
Now wait just a cotton pickin' minute here!
MARK HAMILL is 53???!?!?!?!!!
That is simply not possible, see, because if Mark Hamill is really 53 (?!!!!???!?!?), that would make me....oh, nevermind...let's just say I'm not 12 anymore.
Tempus does indeed fugit.
Regards,
You're welcome. I saw it earlier today and considered posting it as a new thread, but decided to wait until I saw a current thread on the new release where I could post it as a comment.
I "borrowed it" for my thread for all the Gone with the Wind enthusiasts to see ! lol
Wow, not bad considering that's where I was at 12:01 am this morning. Didn't even have to wait in line, just showed up 5 min before show time and grabbed a nice seat in the rear. Alot easier when the wife and kids aren't there also.
Or even better yet, type in 94588 and read n weep. Hope I get to see it with the family when I go home this weekend.
Actually in Tunisia. Looks like they had China for Kashyyyk, and Switzerland for Alderaan too.
Where are you seeing a movie in this state for $5? Last time I went to a movie here in Raleigh it was like $7.50 about two years ago
Yeah maybe Eastland Mall.. ;) I'm just kidding with you TC. That's a good deal.
I can see their point of view. However, I really have always seen the similarities from this movie in the political realm and when those that either don't bother to question out of apathy or refuse to question out of loyalty to a party allow the Republic to disappear
I'm with you. I'll never know what the fuss was all about. There's someone I work with, who is goofy about the Lord of the Rings trilogy or something. He's a grown man and he acts like a little kid talking about wookis or schmookies or whatever they are. He took a day off work to watch all three movies back to back to back. He even camped out the night before at the theater. Whatever.
I wouldn't sit in a theater all day to save my life. I love football, but I wouldn't watch three games in a row either.
Anyway, are the Star Wars freaks also Rings freaks? Or is there some kind of law against that? I rarely talk to this goofball at work, and I didn't feel like asking him because he might get the wrong impression that I give a rats tail.
That said, I'll only see it once...then wait for the DVD.
Eastland Mall is convenient for me. I may have to invite someone who's packing, though :-). But seriously, I think I'll wait for the dollar theater before I take the kids.
