Merriam-Webster Online defines pornography as "the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement" which means it's impossible to stop. What can and should be done, however, is to draw lines at certain depictions -- child porn is an obvious start -- and stop defending it as "art" or "speech".
Further, we should recognize it has an effect and is often not harmless.
