For one to 'not believe' is one thing, but to be so motivated as to make a 'relgion' out of not believing indicates deep psycological issues that can only have negative effects in all areas of society and culture.
As for atheism being a religion, I think you are misinformed. It is simply dis-belief in a deity. Nothing more.

If you mean doubt I'll grant you that. If you mean rejection -- as in 'I know there is no god & all who disagree should not be taken seriously ', then you have a religion, and a rather irrational one.
