The Supreme Court in 1963 Abington Township v. Schempp/Murray vs. Curlett upheld that Baltimore's school board violated William Murray's religious beliefs as an atheist because the school district had prayer and Bible readings.
Our courts consider atheism to be a religion.
If atheism was merely "a belief," a true atheist would simply smile at school prayer.
I'm not interested in what the Supreme Court said. Atheism touches on religion, but in and of itself is not a religion, not in any strict sense.
As the poster of this article has not yet responded, maybe you could help. What exactly is the article saying? In what way is this treaty to deal with atheists? Is their status to be changed? I can get no clue what this article (paragraph really) i saying is happening. When I clicked onto the link I was hoping there would be more info, but alas the paragraph that was reprinted here IS the whole article.
