IMO, these nominees are confirmed IF we burst every single trial balloon the RINO's send up.

They haven't sent one up yet. The only deal that I am concerned about is Specter holding nominees in committee. All the rest is hot air without so much as a sound to go with it. What is the gist of the compromises? Have you heard any? Aall I've heard is that 12 Senators are getting waxed togehter, crisco party maybe, but no proposal or idea has issued from their little tete-a-tete.

I think they are testing our will ...

Pity them at this point. They are in over their heads, and deeply confused and self-concerned. The media is taking advantage of the pity-party to whip up viewership and ratings. I don't see any way the mushy middle can forge a compromise on this issue. They haven't floated so much as a viable conceptual framework, see above.

I WILL contribute to their defeat even if it means a Dem in office. DeWine, for example, if a fool if he thinks this will fly with an election '06. Ditto hagel.

I'm in Maine. The RNC persists in running the likes of Collins and Snowe here. It's an insider's thing. Conservatives not welcome. But you ought to see the moonbats run by the DEMs. Yikes! Anyway, I don't support any of them. Would vote for a RINO over a moonbat, but only if the moonbat had a chance, and the moonbats are so far out that they don't come close.

Mort Kondracke had the deal details that they were trying today on Brit's panel tonight.

The two possible dealings I've heard concern allowing 3-4 of the Jutices to have a vote on condition we don't use the 'nuclear option" reported by Mort's Roll Call, and then reportedly from CNN the possibility Dems would allow a floor vote on all provided Reps voted certain Justices down. IMO, the only reason a deal has not been reached is because both bases refuse to yield.

I find it difficult to pity them for cowardice. That is essentially what this is. If they were really against the vote, they would come out and say so. Risk defeat at the polls.

I understand why Reps run people like Chafee, but at a certain point we need something in return. Otherwise we are financing a campaign for Democrats. Chafee, for example, has stood in opposition to the war, tax cuts, said he was voting against the President, has been weak on Bolton and will vote against the end of the filibuster. That money that is used to elect Chafee could be spent elsewhere in a tight contest where a more conservative Republican could emerge.

I saw something on the thread today that made me feel better about Frist---

someone posted that a democrat made a wise-crack about Frist "ripping a heart out"--and that he got that because someone asked him if he could "handle the stress" of this nomination process, and he mentioned that as a heart surgeon, one had to be able to handle stress...

When he compares this to heart surgery, then I figure he is in the right frame of mind NOT to fall for any of the dems foolishness or the rino backstabbing!
