If the Republicans give them this deal (up/down vote on all nominees, no nuke) I will be "deeply saddened".

Republicans won't have to "give them" that deal. This is the outcome I've predicted all along. The Dems, recognizing they're losing, will simply refrain from filibustering these nominees. With no filibuster, the pubbies can't invoke the nuke option...and Dems will have preserved it for the SCOTUS nomination.

If they do that and try to filibuster a SCOTUS justice...God help 'em.

My point was that it would be ridiculous for Republicans to even enter into any negotiating on these nominees.
On your point, it will be especially hard to filibuster later if the nominee is actually one of this group that they will then have just passed earlier for Appellate Court. But, in addition, isn't there some way the Majority can change this filibuster rule on their own?
