Norm Coleman is not a fool; he let him rant for a reason

Norm is not a fool, but he should watch a little more of the CSPAN coverage of the House of Commons to see what he was in for....

Derb explains...

Galloway came up through the UK parliamentary system, though, where you have to be fierce and clever in debate, and need to be able to think fast on your feet. The US Senate is full of pompous bores, stuffed up to the nose holes with a conviction of their own terrific importance, whose idea of debate is to drone their way through a speech some minimum-wage staffer has written up for them. This was like watching an alley mongrel let loose in a room full of pampered, overfed lap dogs. ....

You're theory that Coleman was taken by surprise by Galloway's performance seems ill-founded to me.

In fact, he appeared supremely prepared for the blowhard.

Coleman did not invite Galloway, he granted him his request to appear and he made sure that before he got the mike that a panel of investigators laid out the case.
