The senator that Bush directly helped the MOST, IMHO, was Arlen Specter and he is the one that is stabbing Bush the most!!! well, no that is an exaggeration--MCCain is, but, Specter isn't helping Bush!

"In the case of Lott, yes, it could be personal."

HEY! I NEVER SAID THIS WAS PERSONAL TO LOTT AT ALL!

" It's all about power.. "

THAT'S what I was saying and pointing out that the senators are often fair weather friends.

Exactly. The cowards don't want a vote but don't want to pay the price. I wonder if they realize that positive press in the MSM following a 'compromise' would reveal who they were? The MSM doesn't praise Republicans without reason.

I saw an image of specter.

He is very sick, he has lost all his hair.

I do not like him at all, (he should have been pulled off the judiciary) but the soundbite seemed to imply he was for the nuclear option. Anybody?

O-kay.

I said it, better? And for him it IS personal.

And quite honestly I am no longer following the direction of this conversation. It seems to have gotten off track.

Isikoff needs to get on this. Rumors of the unknown six flushing copies of the U.S. Constitution down the toilet may just be true.

The RINOs operate with an OLD media mentality.

They think we would forget in 2006.

I don't think so.

Well then Senator Nelson needs to sack up and dig down and find his INTEGRITY---

My daddy always said that integrity was the finest value a person can have---so, if Nelson really feels that they should have an up or down vote, he should say and vote so..

After all, these guys are openly, in every speech, begging the Pubbies to show their "courage like John F. Kennedy" showed....so if they are characterizing McCain, Chafee, and the others and "courageous", then Nelson can just throw that back at them after the vote...

He could say, I was being courageous and voting my conscience like you told all of the Republicans to do!

Specter is just being Specter. In the end he will do what Frist tells him to do because of the promise he had to make to get the Judiciary Chair. Frist needed his vote and made the trade. That made a lot of people on this forum very unhappy but I happen to think it had to be done. With guys and gals like McPain, Snowe, Chaffee and Hagel on your side a five vote margin looks pretty weak.

McPain, OTOH, is truly evil. He would like nothing better than to hand Bush another defeat as partial (it never ends) payment on the debt he owes McPain for defeating him in the 2000 primaries. That will never be forgiven by the evil one from Arizona. If he were President ... I don't even want to think about it. It would just be 8 more years of Dem rule.

Time to fire off another email naming the six the Cabal of Cowards. Knowing our label for them might...just might...emphasize our opinion of their secret wheeling and dealing w/the enemy. Shame should be one of our weapons of choice.

IMO, these nominees are confirmed IF we burst every single trial balloon the RINO's send up.

They haven't sent one up yet. The only deal that I am concerned about is Specter holding nominees in committee. All the rest is hot air without so much as a sound to go with it. What is the gist of the compromises? Have you heard any? Aall I've heard is that 12 Senators are getting waxed togehter, crisco party maybe, but no proposal or idea has issued from their little tete-a-tete.

I think they are testing our will ...

Pity them at this point. They are in over their heads, and deeply confused and self-concerned. The media is taking advantage of the pity-party to whip up viewership and ratings. I don't see any way the mushy middle can forge a compromise on this issue. They haven't floated so much as a viable conceptual framework, see above.

I WILL contribute to their defeat even if it means a Dem in office. DeWine, for example, if a fool if he thinks this will fly with an election '06. Ditto hagel.

I'm in Maine. The RNC persists in running the likes of Collins and Snowe here. It's an insider's thing. Conservatives not welcome. But you ought to see the moonbats run by the DEMs. Yikes! Anyway, I don't support any of them. Would vote for a RINO over a moonbat, but only if the moonbat had a chance, and the moonbats are so far out that they don't come close.

I just don't understand why McCain and Hagel, who both are going to run for POTUS, would openly, on such a hugh issue, vote with the dems....

Did they not see that the Republican party is going to the right?

I'm convinced that McCain sees himself in the starring role of "High Noon".
