Do you eat groceries? How do they get there? You mean the truckers are going to start delivering by bicycle now? Now that will be one hard job.

I forget, which party was the "smaller, more fiscally responsible" party again? I wonder if Bush has finally found that Veto stamp that Rove hid from him.Maybe you meant which faction of this "Two-Party Cartel". Since they have fixed it so that 98% of these turds get reelected they now have no reason to hide their agenda & since they know by keeping the chil'drun uninformed by spending Billions on a losing public school system they can make them dependent on government. RUSh can say all he wants about the nation becoming more conservative but it won't matter when we become a 3rd world country.

Sometimes the oversight is amazingly stupid.I don't doubt it. The issue here may actually be a number of "jobs" and things like bridges do need regular maintenance but to the regular commuter it has the appearance of the never-ending project.

Your personal benefit was the first thing you mentioned. So that makes me a liberal?
Did I say it did?

That's how I took your statement:
Is that all it takes to be a "conservative" nowadays: oppose government spending except defense and what benefits you personally? The wrods weren't exactly there, but the implication was.

It's possible to be neither conservative nor liberal.

Not for me, and I'm not liberal.
Our infrastructure is what makes this country great. If any society is going to be productive, the infrastructure has to be there. It's that basic.

I could go back to doing private construction and make as much, and usually better hours because we work a lot of nights & weekends so as not to inconvenience the motoring public, but I stay with heavy/highway/marine infrastructure construction because I am so damned good at what I do, wherever I go, it lowers the overall average cost of the job, thereby, by me doing what I do, I am saving you money. You are welcome.

thereby, by me doing what I do, I am saving you money. And then you turn around and call for more of our money to be spent. Somehow, I don't think that makes up for whatever savings you might happen to contribute on your own.
