BREAKINH!!-- FRIST TELLS REID TO POUND SAND -- FILIBUSTER NEGOTIATIONS HALTED!!
Reuters ^ | 05-16-05 | cww

Posted on 05/16/2005 8:11:22 PM PDT by CWW

Just Reported -- Frist and Reid broke off filibuster negotiations tonight -- Both said, "stick a fork in it, we're done" (or words to that effect).

Reid is quoted as saying that Frist wanted "all or nothing." Hmm -- sounds good to me!

Wednesday is D-Day. Better start loading up Fat Man and Little Boy! We're going thermonuclear!

And some of you doubted Frist.

Yes, he is sometimes WAY too nice and too accomodating for our tates.

But, as he made clear from the first time he proposed his actually okay compromise, he would not take anything less than giving every nominee an up or down vote.

He has reached his limit. If they do not vote in favor of his acceptable compromise that would give the minority a voice and say in the process yet not allow the minority to stop the nominee from going forward.....well, Frist will then move to have the minority not have the power to block the nominees using the nuclear option.

Let's pray we have enough votes.

Yeah, I email him (from the member side of his site) and have yet to get a response. But he might see it and like it enough to post it on his site; he's been REALLY annoyed with spineless Republicans lately.

"Anyone want in the pool as to when Frist folds?"

You're probably right.....All pubbies have GOT to be wondering if they will be the majority after 06, with the way they disregard what their constituents want.....they're surely considering that they might want to filibuster in the not too distant future. I hope I'm wrong, but....

Reid just found out that he's toast. :-)

I bet that duck he had over at Sen. Frist's home for dinner on Sunday night didn't taste to good either.

The real question is, why couldn't Jack Bauer be Majority Leader?

Fictionally speaking, Bauer would take custody of the entire minority for national security reasons. Following preliminary information gathering, it would take decades to sort out the charges. :-)

Whoo-Hoo!!! About time!!! I think the filibuster is stupid anyways. Hopefully Frist and the Republicans finally grew a pair, let's keep it going and kick it to DefCon 2.

Frist wanted "all or nothing."

The American majority expects just that. This election brought in more voters than ever before in history, so now it's time to pay up. The voters want what they voted for - all of it!!!!
Atta boy Frist! Kudos!

Frist won't fold but some RINO senators that have told Frist they will vote for the rule change, will stab him in the back when it comes to a real vote.

Drudge had a guest on his show last night, who said the Constitutional option vote is going to be close. Just a couple of senators could make the difference.

Even if none of these SWING senators is your own senator,
please invest the time needed to call them. If you are busy, please at least call one or two.

The seven wavering Republican Senators are Collins, DeWine, Hagel, Murkowski, Roberts, Specter, and Warner.

We can call toll-free at 877-762-8762 & just ask to be connected to any senator.

Fax or e-mail info can be found here (but phone calls are more effective):
http://www.conservativeusa.org/mega-cong.htm

Urge each to FULLY SUPPORT THE FILIBUSTERING
RULES CHANGE.

PLEASE tell your friends to call and e-mail, too.
