I'm not so sure Newsweek accomplished its mission, which was to cause trouble for its political adversaries, Bush and the Military. I think this will redound on them, but not much as the story will be left to die a quiet death. That will be too bad, because the larger story here should focus on the irrational, non linear response any supposed slight can evince among Muslims. Islam is assuming more and more trappings of a violent, murderous cult.
This incident will be used as justification for suppressing any criticism of Islam for fear of the insane reactions. The mission accomplished will be for Islam in insulating itself from the modern world as it grows more bloodthirsty.

In other words, the way the world is, we HAVE to be PC to keep from losing lives!

And the dems have congresscritters that get up on the House floor everyday and the senate for that matter, that are furious that Bush won't just bring all the troops home and try to "communicate" with these animals!!!

>>The weekly news magazine said in its May 23 edition that the original source of the allegation was not sure where he saw the assertion that at least one copy of the Koran was flushed down a toilet in an attempt to get detainees to talk<<

I'm a big supporter of freedom of the press and feel criticizing the government when appropriate...

But we need a better explanation than this. Newsweek has got to be nuts if they think a statement like that is going to be the end of it.

BTW, I'm also not completely satisfied with the Army's investigation. They just said that flushing the Koran was not recorded in the interrogation logs. That doesn't mean it didn't happen.
