"Newsweek helped kill innocent Men, Women and Children with a false report...Like CBS did with Bush. One by one...."

Comparing these 2 might be stretching it a bit. I'm not aware of any innocents that died because of CBS's stupidity.
This story has made me angry than anything else media-related so far. I hope someone at Newsweek is held responsible for the consequences of their story.
I have no problem with the media reporting inflammatory information as long as it is checked and true.

Newsweek erred in a way that fueled anti-Americanism. CBS erred in the National Guard story that could have brought down a sitting President. Shouldn't screw up when the stakes are that high, but it isn't only about screwups. When CBS broke the Abu Ghraib pictures, they caused beheadings and a major long-term loss of face for USA. It wasn't a screwup per se, but they did not have to publish the pictures - the story was already known. They needed to report responsibly.
