Our original source later said he couldn't be certain about reading of the alleged Qur'an incident in the report we cited, and said it might have been in other investigative documents or drafts

This passes for NEWS? at Newsweak? Splains a lot.

Let's face it, as long as there's Republicans in charge the MSM media will work overtime to damage the U.S. all they can.

This much is obvious by their coverage(lack of honest coverage) on Bolton, and the DUmmies unprecedented use of filibusters.

Totally dishonest Coverage.

They should change the name to "Weaknews" and close the doors and go out of business of reporting "news" like that. Heads should roll, (be sent to Whateveristan to "apologize").
Just keep pi$$ing people off, wait till next elections!

information came from a knowledgeable U.S. government source

All of this "unnamed, anonymous, reliable, officials" reporting has gotten way out of hand.

I now go by the theory that if they don't name their source, they are lying. If they name their source, it is misquote or taken out of context.

"Let's face it, as long as there's Republicans in charge the MSM media will work overtime to damage the U.S. all they can."

Very true.

Consider this: back in 1998 Issikoff was given the whole ball of wax concerning the Clinton/Lewinsky affair..he wrote the article but Newsweek refused to print it.

The Drudge Report broke the story and as they say, the rest is history.

Issokoff, a few years later writes this story WITHOUT solid information/evidence...no wax at all, and Newsweek prints the story.

So, what's the difference?

Who would have been hurt in 1998 as opposed to who would be hurt in 2005?

Oh, not to mention 15 dead people of unknown political alliance...certainly not Democrats or Republicans.

Newsweek's collateral damage, I guess.

Certainly not of much significance to the editors at Newsweek.

And there will be petty bureaucrats with partisan motivations willing to produce unattributed leaks for the purpose of embarrassing the administration.

The media and their willingness to use partisan sources have created a tragic situation.
