Well, gee, big of them to apologize.
Shades of Rather. They wante to believe the anti US story so badly they ran it without properly checking it and engendered massive ill will against the country and caused several riots and deaths. Do you think any heads will roll at Newsweak?
It sounds like revenue took a hit,no?? Subscribers and advertisers DO hold some sway
And most of that score comes from the fact that they didn't say "if we got any of our story wrong," or "if anyone was offended."
They extend their sympathies? Their rush to print anything that makes the USA look bad, regardless of whether or not it is true, has caused multiple deaths. Isn't it big of them to be "sorry" about it.
Islamists are not going to beleive this retraction/apology. The horse is out of the barn.
Flush the pages and be done with the rag!
Just the like the old LBJ story, "I don't care if he did it, I just want then to deny it."
This piece is just a CYA piece. Does not sound very sincere -- just "Geez, we reported something and people died -- isn't that too bad"...
They should be run into bankruptcy for this stunt
They cost people their lives
And the sad part is ??
They have learned NOTHING from this
NO KIDDING!
Saw the rep from Newsweek on a sunday show. He said, "Our Bad!" That does it for me, end of story.
The Newsweek editors should get their heads flushed down the toilet..
