Agreed - I don't like his politics, but from what I have read the man served honorably and that must be acknowledged (however, that doesn't give him a "pass" on all things political!!).
I did have a fairly recent encounter, albeit brief, with Sen. McCain overseas. I must admit he was very nice - I was actually a bit surprised (still wouldn't vote for him though!!)

We agree. Once a hero does not exempt you for life. I have my own concerns about his honor, but I would, and need to do more reading to move my opinion up a notch. He's an an ego-maniacal opportunist, with a very bitter and p*ssy attitude.. He loves to stick it to his party, and has no concern how it hurts the American people, regardless of political stripe. CFR is his defining crime against the people. A silencing he is not done with.
I'm glad he was polite and decent in your brief encounter... I have heard horrid things about Kerry's rudeness to our military when visiting for photo ops. And Hillary for that matter, but that's a broomstick of a different color.. (grin) :)
