To: Your Nightmare

The worst part of any type of national sales tax is the TRANSITION phase. There will most likely be a phase-out/phase-in of different tax systems. Then, by golly, there will be a CRISIS, and can't we just keep the income tax just a little bit longer?? Thanks a lot sales-taxers, we will then have TWO major methods competing for our money, (in addition to other taxes we will still have)

No, you really won't. Please read the bill itself (hr25) which you can obtain from http://thomas.loc.gov by checking the bill number choice and entering hr24 in the search block.

The FairTax bill goes into some of the provisions for transition. If you read the bill you will see there will be NO income tax (or IRS) and the 16th amendment is identified for repeal.

The FsairTax plan is actually the simplest of them all.

You are exactly right. The question shouldn't even be taxation. The Feds need to control the throwaway of our money.
