It's more the principle. I'm no Brit, but the calls for unthought out actions like this always irritate me as it shows no planning for consequences....

There is always more than one way to skin a cat...

Galloway will find that he has some good friends in the Senate i.e. Byrd, Kennedy...Maybe the RINO Hagel will make some excuses for him as well.

What does RINO stand for by the way. Being a Kiwi I'm unfam, iliar with the term but my guess/hunch is 'Republican in name only' - is that right?

The only problem with this scenario is that most of our "Republican" congressmen and senators are too stupid, or too nice, to ream this guy a new one. He might indeed end up triumphant. A sad commentary.

You know better than to pay attention to the occasional hyperventilating over-reactor that we get here. :-)

The Senate report said the documents it used to make the allegations "have no relation" to those discussed in the Daily Telegraph piece.

And I'll bet that's not all they have...

What do ya wanna bet George chickens out?

Check this out. From the link:

42. In our Report of last July we requested information about the involvement of British nationals or entities in the Oil for Food scandal.[63] The FCO told us in its response that the "relevant UK authorities have assessed all the documents received by the Government at this time and decided that there is currently insufficient information to mount a criminal investigation."[64] It is likely that the Independent Inquiry will bring more information to light. On 4 February 2005 the FCO told us: "With regard to any possible involvement of UK companies or entities in corrupt practices, the Government notes this will be addressed by the [independent committee] in a future report and awaits its findings."[65]

43. We conclude that the possible involvement of British nationals or entities in the UN's Oil for Food scandal remains a concern but that the Government is right to withhold judgement until it is in possession of all the facts. However, we recommend swift action if any United Kingdom nationals or entities are implicated in the affair.

Gee, it sounds to me like the Brits aren't even conducting an investigation of their own. That they're waiting to see what's handed to them.

Wonder why they can't be bothgered to investigate to see if any of their own aided and abetted Saddamn?

Thanks- I saved the link... it's such an intertwined hive of corruption, bribes, and kickbacks that it seems to go everywhere:

-"No Blood for Oil"- Kojo & Kofi: Unbelievable U.N. stories--

-ADSCAM -- Canada's Corruption Scandal Breaks Wide Open--

-MP George Galloway- voice cries "peace," hand in Saddam's till...--

For what it's worth, I believe a similar mechanism was one of the drivers behind the Kyoto Treaty scam, too-- much room for skimming money and brokering power & influence.

Those guilty of such blatant criminality & abuse of public trust should be keelhauled.
