A lot of black radicals insist that the ancient Egyptians were black.
A lot of them insist on a lot of things, to my continual amusement. I upset one guy who had taken too many afrocentric courses in college, when I pointed out that not only was Cleopatra not black, she was not even ethnicly Egyptian (she was Greek/Macedonian. Alexander the Great conquered Egypt and installed his people as the new ruling class)
