Wilbanks Enters Treatment Program
WXIA-TV/DT Atlanta ^ | 5.10.05 | Ian Stinson

Posted on 05/10/2005 9:17:20 AM PDT by mhking

Jennifer Wilbanks, the runaway bride whose disappearance triggered a nationwide search, has entered a voluntary medical treatment program.

According to a statement from the family's church, "Ms. Wilbanks entered a highly regarded, inpatient treatment program on her own volition to address physical and mental issues which, she believes, played a major role in her 'running from herself' as she described in a public statement last week."

Wilbanks entered the program late Monday. The location of the program and suggested duration of treatment was not disclosed.

Wilbanks was already undergoing professional treatment. On May 5, the pastor for the Wilbanks family, Dr. Tom Smiley, read a statement from Jennifer Wilbanks. In the statement, Wilbanks said she, "started professional treatment voluntarily," for the problems that led her to run away.

Dr. Smiley said the treatment was "professional therapy with certified, competent professionals." Smiley did not go into details about the treatment.

Wilbanks, 32, touched off an extensive search in April when she disappeared after leaving her Duluth, Ga., home for a jog just four days before her scheduled wedding.

Wilbanks turned up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She told police she had been abducted, but she later told authorities she took a bus to Las Vegas and then Albuquerque on her own.

"intentionally facially deformed child molester trial."
Fitting description! Has he been aquitted yet? I quit watching tv weeks ago because I couldn't take any more of his antics, which were reported over and over ad nauseum.

Look at post 178. It's exactly what I was talking about. Take a simple concept (stealing), turn it into the verbiage of psych-land, and watch the billable hours climb.

One transatlantic expression is to simply call her a loony.

In south Georgia they would use the colorful, but descriptive phrase, "She has snakes in her head." I don't think that that has gotten as far north as Atlanta, however.

I didn't realise there was a treatment programme for being, to use the American term, a "fruit loop".

LOL........ there could be somewhat a different treatment for Barney Frank.

treated like you were a lepard?

They don't charge extra for using the "Spell" button. You can choose between leopard, leper, or 21 other choices.

"She has a man who loves her and does not run."
Well, she ran.
So he's good. That would make the person who ran...not good.

She's been arrest FIVE times, three reportedly for shoplifting.

So where are the headlines?

I saw her three shoplifting mug shots on tv last night, on one of those trashy Ho-wood celeb shows like maybe Access Hollywood. She looked awful in the mug shots; may have had a nose job since, also has lost weight since. But what are the other two arrests?

She was arrested three times for shoplifting, but only prosecuted the third time, and was sentenced to two weekends in jail. Whatever happened to three strikes? Methinks money did some talking.

And her filing a false rape charge was criminal.

Absolutely. And so was shoplifting, for which she was arrested three times. Her mug shots were on some gossip show last night. Access Hollywood? Inside Edition? ???

I tend to disagree that it is not related to greed or poverty. I know of someone that had the ability to pay but CHOSE to steal. They wanted MORE. When asked why the person stated that they simply wanted MORE but didn't want to pay for it.

Poverty is another valid reason. They don't have the means to pay for it, so they stole it.

I agree there can be other reasons but I believe these are the more common ones from people I know that had a problem with it. I will read through it though to see what else they said.

Nah, not talking about myself ... people I know that later admitted they had a problem with it - soccer moms - believe it or not!

"Physical" issues is what stuck out at me. I started wondering if she's carrying a love-child, perhaps is suffering the effects of an STD, is physically dependent on something, suffering from anorexia, etc.

Then, I just decided to do a search, and found this:

I doubt it will ever end!

Although Wilbanks' "home church" is Peachtree Corners Baptist Church in Norcross, Smiley said, she chose him to speak for her at Thursday's much-anticipated press conference. Smiley added that Lakewood had ministered to Wilbanks' family for more than four generations, but other than seeing her at family gatherings, Smiley "wouldn't say that I had in-depth knowledge of Jennifer prior to this experience."

Most likely Dr. Smiley is her family's pastor. My guess is that her parents sought help. Too late.

Yes, her issues should keep her at the Happy Meadows funny farm for the rest of her life.

"The most obvious ones simply work for the BBC."

Now that's funny! Although, I have heard that the BBC does not pay their 'journalists' very well. Maybe that has something to do with it...?

An obsessive-compulsive personality who knows it is wrong to shoplift, but can't help herself. An anorexic who knows she is slowly killing herself but can't stop doing this to herself.

A bipolar manic-depressive unable to stop her mood swings. A fantasy reversion to her childhood that running away from problems solves them.

Oh yeah, she normal!

$10,000???????????? What narcotic are you currently taking???? 10,000 divided by 600 guest is 16.66 dollars per head. I assume you would serve baloney sandwiches and Kool-Aid! Let's not forget the minister's fee, the church rental, the organist's fee, the soloist's fee, the florist's charges, the photographer's fee, the videographer's fee, the bridal gown cost, the limo fee, the reception hall rental, the caterer's fee.........................I could go on for an hour or more, but why belabor the point!!!!

I would estimate the per head guest charge at $100 dollars although depending upon vintage champagne and premium liquors, that could easily skyrocket to $150-175 per person. But let's split the difference and call it $75,000. Add in the other charges and the $10,000 wedding trip - To Viva Las Vegas!!! and I'd call it an even $100,000.

Now I've been to bigger. Much bigger in Detroit. The entire Detroit Lions football team was there and man can those boys eat and drink!!! I guess that was close to $500,000. Beyond that, you'll have to consult Diana in the afterlife!
