"Wanna know what really went down at the Alamo? Check out our Nick News Bump: Remember the Alamo
....
Want the details? A kid just like YOU sounds off about the landmark in her backyard..."

that really sounds like propaganda. "what REALLY happened" and listen to this kid "just like you". This is pathetic.

I prefer Astin Martins and Bass Ale. We obviously were on the wrong side during WWII.

Distortion of American history did not begin recently. Few textbooks have ever mentioned that the Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist wing of the Democratic Party or that every Confederate rebel was a Democrat.

Hitler was just a misunderstood, gay, left-wing Socialist nut. Oh wait, no that would be truth.

Misunderstood: Obviously. He said exactly what he planned to do for 20 years, and nobody believed him until he actually did it.

Gay: Nope. He appears to have been a coprophilic masochist, but of the hetero variety. It is also likely that he just didn't have that much sex drive.

Left-wing Socialist: Only if you distort the meaning of these terms. If the terms "left-wing" and "Socialist" mean anything at all, they refer to the ideology that presses for total human equality, economic as well as political. Since Nazism's ideology was based on promoting inequality among humans, the label just doesn't fit.

Almost nothing that children learn about history is true.

Nothing surprising in this - the public schools are the chief instrument of American Totalitarianism.

After all, destroying human memory of the past reduces resistance to socialist reconstruction.

My daughter's Advanced Placement US History(APUSH) class as being taught last week claims that Lincoln had slaves at one time.

I'd sure like to see a reference for that. It's untrue, as Lincoln lived his entire adult life in IL, a free state. Not to mention that he was utterly opposed to slavery his entire life.

You sure they're not thinking of Grant?

This almost sounds like Howard Dean!

As a lawyer, Lincoln defended a slaveholder. Maybe that should be on the test, too

Thanks, you made my day! Years ago I did not mind too much my daughter watching Rugrats... then we noticed that she was starting to speak and act like Angelica. It took months to get her out of that mode. For years Nickelodeon was a "curse word" at home, but slowly my son has been getting permission to watch this program, that program... Every once in a while I catch him watching Rugrats and we go through the process of mutual screaming, tv banning... And honestly, why should I think that Rugrats is the only objectionable program? Slowly we are getting him interested in the National Geographic or History channels, but sometimes I still catch him watching Nickelodeon, watching programs that I don't know anything about! Blocking the $@#&@ channel seems the most reasonable alternative! Thanks again!

That's like saying the fact [?] that because Thomas Jefferson may have had sexual relations with one of his slaves, the rest of his role as Founding Father should be ignored.

At least on my receiver, you can also put a password on your channel lists and set a spending limit for pay-per-view events.
My daughter is too young for me to have to worry about those, but you may be interested in that option.

At any rate, I'm glad to help out.

I have been unable to find any evidence that Sherman ever owned slaves. If you've got some, I'd appreciate a point in the right direction.

Agreed. My daughter and I were talking about this.... and how the libs have rewritten history to fit their agenda. Kids are outraged when they find out they've been lied to... so there is a education revolt in the making. The secret to not letting this slide under the radar is to monitor our children's education and teach them to research for themselves.

You won't get that statement from me.

Highlighting the fact that slavery was a contributing factor in the Texican Revolution is obviously PC. But it doesn't change that it was a fact.

Similarly, a few years ago I went through the LDS tourist center in SLC. It claimed that a, or perhaps the, primary reason for Missourians and others persecuting Mormons was that the Mormons were opposed to slavery.

Actually he was a Right-wing Socialist nut. But other than that you're correct :)

When I found out my kids were watching programing that I didn't approve of, I dropped sattelite and cable. I still don't like their choices, but at least it minimizes their selection of undesirable programming...
