That would be my guess.... not to say a savage murderer may not suddenly "get religion" when faced with what he's done, but I suspect this has a lot to do with his upcoming trial.... he'll now be the persecuted martyr of Muslim manhood.

Yup, Christian prison conversions are passe - asking for forgiveness is no fun. Announcing that allah made you do is more appealing, since you can justify the destruction of heathen and avoid entirely the notion of guilt.
