Is that really true? Is there any source for that claim? I would think that parlimentary procedures would allow a vote once a quorum was reached.I don't know if it's true, I was simply quoting another poster.
My real hope is that the Libs try some sort 'run away' tactic.

Maitlan is doing a poor job explaining the GOP position on the filibustering of judges. Russert keeps on saying the GOP wants to change the rules on filibustering. Wrong. The rules on filibustering will continue unchanged except for an up and down vote on judicial nominees, now blocked by a rule requiring a super majority to get a vote, i.e., get cloture.

I would hope that the SaA would compel Kerry's attendence. Can you imagine how he'd carry on? "Don't you know who I am! I'm the man with the plan, a war hero," etc.

Wouldn't it be easier to just change the rules and vote while the Democrats are not there? They're going to whine anyway.
This whole business in the Senate is too much like waiting to see if your 6-year-old really can hold his breath until he turns blue. Even if he can, it's not good for him and it's not something a responsible adult should do.

Apparently China thinks a nuclear armed Communist regime on its doorstep is better than no Communist regime at all. Or China is playing NK for their fall guy
I don't trust China ... trust them even less after Clinton sold them our nuke secrets
BTW ... in the future .. you just watch how Clinton and his Gang distanced themselves from the problems with NK

If the roles were reversed, the Dems would have no problem putting an end to this business. They know how to use power unlike the GOP, which has less experience and an aversion to fight.

I don't understand why a conservative state like Nebraska would elect a liberal Senator like Hagel.
To: jackbill
Good job. I agree with you. The Dems not showing up would not prevent Bolton being voted out to a floor vote. Excellent!
The Dems didn't read the fine print again.
To: Fishtalk
Good point. I remember ALL the Sunday shows spent at least two weeks on Trent Lott's words to Strom Thurmond on his birthday. The press were enraged. Strom was a racist, and now Trent was too, and therefore, all Republicans also. Now they yawn over Reid's comments, which were deliberately mean-spirited, rather than being an attempt at kindness at an old man'd birthday party.
Tht's one reason I wouldn't count on the MSM chastizing the Dems if they walked out of the Senate. They'd at least remind everyone that the Republicans did this too under Newt, and therefore it's not that big a deal (even perfectly legitimate--since the Republicans started it).
The press deines being biased, but continues to give evidence of it on a daily basis. Truly delusional. Gratefully, I think more and more folks are beginning to realize this. Our job is to remind them with examples such as yours.

That is a new tactic Senate Dems are threatening to use. Apparently, every committee must have at least one of the opposition party (OP) present to do business. If no OP member is present, the committee cannot vote; thus it cannot get nominees out of committee. Looks like time for another rules change. If the opposition refuses to show up, the vote should go forward.

Writing everything down is usually a symptom of marijuana abuse at an earlier age. Most rats do think they are right, it's part of the psychosis.
