A newly-formed Europe India Chamber of Commerce has said that "factors other than commercial" have influenced India's decision to buy 50 aircraft from the US-based Boeing and expressed its apprehension that it might have a "political fall out" in Europe.
The EICC in a statement said it was not surprised over the disappointment expressed by the European Union and France citing irregularity and lack of transparency in the process.
The secretary general of the Brussels-based trade body, Sunil Prasad hoped that France's attempts to sell Mirage fighter jets to Indian Air Force would not meet with the same fate.
The Airbus 'fly by-wire' planes in service by both Air-India and Indian Airlines for the last several years have proved trustworthy and economic in the light of rising fuel prices and therefore Indian government's decision to go for Boeing is "neither convincing nor rational," Prasad said.
He said Airbus has superior technology compared to Boeing and expressed doubts whether Boeing would be able to meet Air-India's order for the next three years.
Prasad said he was concerned that the Boeing deal would lead to "serious apprehension in Europe" about India's trade and investment policies.
He noted that the European Union is the largest source of foreign direct investment to India and both have developed substantial trade and economic relations.
The Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between EU and India on November 8 last year upgrading their relationship to a strategic level, in addition to helping India in its quest to become global player, was also to promote trade and investment between EU and India, he said.
Isn't this lucky that this organization just popped up. They are using the same "factors other than commercial" language that the Airbus and French Government reps used.
Maybe the Indians figured out that, in India, a 840-passenger Airbus would be impossilbe to load within three days, the lugguge handling would be a nightmare, the toilets on board, after a 10-hour flight, would cause another cholera to emerge, and meals would simply be impossible to do. All that currie in one place would be a FIRE hazzard no sane country would invite.
They call this "soft power". Whining.
I have resisted commenting on this story because I figured it was pretty much Airbus supporters protesting a decision that went against them.
However, this makes it clear that there is more to this story than a business decision that goes against Airbus. Airbus may be a good aircraft, but the Indians selected one (Boeing) that they felt met their particular needs better.
This is like cattlemen protesting your choice of the chicken instead of the beef. Sometimes, people don't want beef, and sometimes, for health reasons, it's better that they don't eat the beef.
Deal with it, Euroweenies!!
Lol. We women do it well, don't we? We add some tears, or near tears, some sniffing and snerfing, and voila! we have what we want.
Usually, screaming is first, then threats, THEN whining and tears. If she is REALLY good, she then droops and sags. Sighing soulfully is another trick that often works too.
MOANING is over the top, usually done by older women or really desperate younger women.
Women have this down to a science. That's what they learn to do, even with other women, in jobs, wherever. If they don't get what they want, then it's sexism, glass ceiling, SOMEthing to validate their complaints at not getting what they want when they want it.
All manipulation drama -- soft power -- great expression.
Europeans say that they don't need military., that they choose to exercise their influence by soft power, meaning diplomacy and cutthroat economic competition.
Sounds exactly like the Japanese, only THEY throw in a sushi dinner every once in a while.
Come to think of it, sounds like the Indians and Mexicans too....er, just everyone who doesn't have the "big stick" that we have. Lol.
Did it have to do with price, technology, or something simpler like delivery dates?
Or was the sale tied to something else, like H-1B visas for Indian workers and/or outsourcing of work to Indian companies?
Maybe they just don't like Airbus.
They were no shoping for the A380 in this round. India will buy A380s. This buy was for another class of liner.
Europe is set to replace the US as the biggest provider of jobs there. Besides, the Indians dont seem to appreciate our supplying weapons to the islamic fundamentalists ruling Pakistan..
So they demonstrate their displeasure by buying our Boeings?
AND they can use their sacred cows' cowshit to build their huts and cook their food.
Ah, the flies, the diseases they carry through their excretiion.
Yes, the third world is always so interesting.
Yea... he noted to India that they invest money in India, ahh ? isn't that a thinly veiled threat of blackmail to India by the EU if India doesn't buy their products from the EU ?
