And it was, in the first generation after Christ's life on earth. Colossians 1:23: ". . . This is the gospel you have heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. . ."
There is historical evidence of first century Christianity in the Orient.
And we are not to just go preach the gospel, we are to make disciples. The Gospel is not to got to the whole world so everyone can hear it, it's to go to the whole world so all can encounter Jesus and be changed.
