Schiavos Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are (Schindlers Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are)

MIAMI - The family of a severely brain-damaged woman who died after her feeding tube was removed in March said Friday they still have not been told where her remains will be laid to rest.

Terri Schiavo's parents and siblings, who waged a lengthy court battle over her end-of-life wishes, said on Fox's "Hannity & Colmes" show that her husband is keeping her remains from them.

"They were supposed to tell us, and we still have not heard from ... Michael Schiavo where Terri's been laid," said Terri Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler. "Our family expected this. Michael has disobeyed court orders throughout the ordeal and continues to do so today."

Michael Schiavo is under court order to notify the Schindlers of his plans for a memorial service. He has had his wife cremated and has said her ashes would be buried at a family plot in Pennsylvania.

George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney, did not immediately return a call Friday night seeking comment.

Terri Schiavo, 41, died March 31 in a Pinellas Park hospice, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed by court order. She suffered brain damage in 1990 after a chemical imbalance caused her heart to stop.

She left no written instructions in the event she became disabled, and her husband said she never would have wanted to be kept alive in what court-appointed doctors called a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery.

The Schindlers, however, doubted she had any such end-of-life wishes. They maintained she would benefit from rehabilitation, despite most doctors saying her condition was irreversible

Let it go?

Sorry, dude, that would be called massive denial. We don't cover evil up in a free republic, especially when it is still so obvious. This is an authentic First Amendment website, last time I looked.

So we shouldn't work to change the laws? What should we do then? Simply disobey or circumvent them?

My "simplistic" view on the Schiavo matter is held by Charles Krauthammer, Fred Barnes, Mark Steyn, Peggy Noonan, the editorial board of the Jerusalem Post, many Jewish theologians, Jeb Bush, the Vatican, my Mom (:...and lots of others. I'm in pretty good company.

So you support Michael's abuse of Terri's parents?

You support the right of a husband to NOT have a memorial service for an unwanted wife?

I see, we are offbase here. We should know - never post in support of Terri or decency with her remains.

cannot tell the difference between a circus and a serious national debate...

Oh, I can tell the difference quite clearly.

It's Sean Hannity, Mark Furhman, Randall Terry, Jesse Jackson, the juggler, et.al who can't.

"There are plenty of parents who have SHOWN nefarious intent towards their child/ren."

Sure but they've always been YOUNG children, not grown children.

For every person you just listed, I can find an equally respected person who says something else.

How do you feel about the "right to life....."?

Or is that only for non-disabled, non-bedridden, non-speaking "productive" citizens.

"Jeb Bush"

A pity Jeb limited his support to lip service, rather than any "heavy lifting" to save Terri's life.

Feeding tubes is ok for 15 years when you are in a PVS? I assert that the majority of people will go for option A. There is a space for other desires, yes. Anyone who would want to stay on a feeding tube, indefinitely, while in a PVS state is so incredibly selfish I don't even know what to say.

I'm sure fire fighter Donald Herbert is the most selfish man in the world and was so ungrateful his family did not give up on him. He must be very disappointed.

In the case of Michael Schiavo, he sued and got a fat settlement. Based partly upon his promise to care for Terri for the rest of her life...

Sure work to change the laws. But if someone is being judicially murdered, then yes, God almighty would DEMAND the law be disobeyed or circumvented in such a case!

It'll suddenly become America's business when it's your child's life that isn't deemed valuable enough to save. You think like a child. Go to another site where you can find people who sympathize with you troll.

Michael Schiavo probably never had any real love for Terri. He probably flushed her ashes down the commode as soon as he took them home. That is one hell of a thing to say about anyone, like them or not. Shame on you. I know why I spend less and less time around here. Good God!

OK, so what did Schiavo do with Terri's ashes? Why does he ignore the court order? He certainly responded instantly to a court order to murder Terri. Michael is a good guy?

I agree that the questuion of who pays is important. From what I know about it, the Texas law handles that well. Doctors backed by a hospital ethics committee say when they say that medicine can do no more. That decision can be appealled to a court. Then, next of kin have ten days to make other arrangments. If they want to take the patient home, it's on them.

I went through something like this when I was 25. Without any courts and TV cameras I yielded to my mother-in-law's desire to care for my brain-damaged husband. He did collect SS disability, though, I think.

Recently my neighbor refused to let docs discontinue life-support. She got drunk and stayed drunk for months while the public paid. It got to the point that neighbors began to gossip that she had really cause his head injury and was prolonging the situation so she would not be proscuted.
